At the National Badminton Museum, we take your privacy seriously and will only use your personal information to contact you in order to provide the service(s) you have requested from us.

We are the National Badminton Museum (NBM). We are a registered charity (No. 1118059). Our registered address is:- National Badminton Museum, National Badminton Centre, Bradwell Road, Loughton Lodge, Milton Keynes MK8 9LA.

What type of information is collected from you?

The personal information the National Badminton Museum collects from you will be limited to include your name, address, telephone numbers and email address.

The National Badminton Museum will only collect and store the relevant personal information if it has the agreement from the person concerned.

The National Badminton Museum will only collect and store the relevant personal information from :-

  • Friends of the NBM.
  • Trustees of the NBM.
  • Volunteers of the NBM.
  • Anybody who donates to the NBM collection and archives.
  • People who contact the NBM via the NBM website.

How is your information used?

The National Badminton Museum will only collect and store your personal information for the purpose of :-

  • Newsletter mailings.
  • Fundraising appeals.
  • Events.Mailing lists.
  • Gifts Aid.
  • Collection and archives records.
  • Trustee and Volunteer information and management.
  • To contact you regarding any administrative issues relating to the NBM, including responding to enquiries from you about the NBM and badminton history in general.

We will not use your personal information for any reason other than the above.

We will process and store your personal information in a secure manner.

We will not pass your personal information on to any other individual or organisation.

We will retain your personal information for the following length of time:-

  • For one year after ceasing being a Friend of the NBM.
  • For one year after ceasing being a Trustee or Volunteer of the NBM.
  • For one year after sending information via the NBM website.

Gift Aid records must be kept for six years after the relevant accounting period.

The 1998 Data Protection Act contains an exemption for archive records and it is expected that something similar will be included in the new legislation or guidance.

Your rights

You have certain rights over the personal information we hold on you, including the following:

  • The right to access the personal information we hold on you;
  • The right to request rectification of your personal information, where it is found to be inaccurate;
  • The right to request erasure of your personal information;
  • The right to request that we do not further process your personal information;
  • The right to object to our processing of your personal information;
  • The right to request that we transfer your personal information to another organisation;
  • The right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you are concerned about the way we are handling your personal information; and
  • The right to withdraw consent for us to process your personal information.
